“Ust-Luga Cup” - Last pieces of the puzzle

On a late Friday evening, in yacht club "Krestovskiy”, the awarding ceremony for the winners and runners-up of the International Baltic regatta “Ust-Luga Cup 2013” was over. On the same day, just before that, an exciting sailing parade on the Neva river, where more than twenty yachts making up two regatta fleets (“Ust-Luga Cup” and ARC 80) took part

The yachts entered Neva sailing over to the Blagoveshchensky Bridge, where they made a few big circles and a few sailing maneuvers up and down the river. The teams lined up on the decks, welcomed the numerous spectators that were quickly packing the city quays. The sailing fleet and the architecture style of Petrine Baroque seemed to perfectly complement each other making the ceremony even more fascinating

The event was quite spectacular, but not long: one hour after the start of the parade, the wind, being already strong enough, rose to the point where continuing the show on such a limited water area became rather unsafe. Closer to night, EMERCOM issued a storm warning, and the parade was over to the first sounds of nature’s wrath rapidly approaching the city.

Yachts came back to the club, where at that moment preparations for the awards ceremony were in full swing. At the end of the day, the storm was at its peak, generously showering the coast and sending great gusts of wind to regatta participants. Despite the unfavorable extreme weather conditions the evening program was held in, everyone seemed to remain in high spirits - the circumstances had little effect on regatta participants’ holiday spirit

Award and give prizes for the victory in “Ust-Luga Cup" were given away by Valery Izraylit, the organizing committee competition chairman and Viktor Olersky, deputy minister of transport of the Russian Federation, who flew to Saint Petersburg just to welcome regatta participants. Teams “Rosterminalugol”  and “Rosmorport” were awarded with medals and small cups for coming, respectively, second and third while the Big Cup rightfully belong to “SMM” – the undisputed champion of this race.

The final team rankings of regatta look as follows:
